Hookups from Hell

Client: University Girl Magazine

Apparel Designer: Revati Mahurkar

Software: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop

"Hookups from Hell" is a recurring, fan-favorite column in University Girl Magazine that chronicles the messy, hilarious, and downright bizarre world of college dating.

To celebrate the feature, I designed a limited-edition crewneck and sweatpants set in collaboration with The Garment Architect, cozy enough to make even the coldest walk of shame feel like a cozy victory lap. The capsule balances tongue-in-cheek humor with heavyweight, streetwear-inspired quality.

The Crewneck

Designed with an exaggerated, oversized drape and drop-shoulder construction for an effortless streetwear silhouette. Cut from a premium, heavyweight fleece in a vibrant cherry red, it strikes the balance between high-end editorial styling and "never-taking-this-off" comfort.

The Sweatpants

A relaxed, wide-leg cut engineered for ultimate comfort during early morning lectures or late-night debriefs. Features a thick elasticated waistband, inner drawstring, pockets, and custom tone-on-tone red embroidery on the back, keeping the branding subtle, elevated, and clean.

The Design

The design bridges cheeky editorial storytelling with a modern collage aesthetic. The back graphic pairs mixed-media textures, film strips, and newsprint typography to capture the chaotic charm of college dating. On the front, minimalist tonal chest embroidery lets the back artwork take center stage while keeping the overall look polished.
